From Digital Blueprint to Ground-Level Impact
Sustainability Solutions Exchange (SSX) Returns for its Second Physical Edition
The Philippine government is sounding a clear call to action for local businesses: the shift to green isn't just an environmental obligation anymore—it's a global market imperative. Spearheaded by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the export promotion arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the second physical edition of the Sustainability Solutions Exchange (SSX) is set to take over the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) from October 15–17, 2026.
Aptly themed “Green-ready: Scaling the Shift for Impact and Growth,” this year's staging marks a major evolution for an initiative that started as a digital experiment. When SSX debuted as a maiden online edition in 2022 during the height of digital pivoting, it sought to map out the country's green potential in a virtual space. By 2025, that blueprint leaped into reality with its successful first physical run alongside IFEX Philippines. Now, building on that crucial momentum, SSX 2026 steps into its own as a standalone powerhouse event—serving as an official side event of the Philippines’ ASEAN 2026 Chairship.
A Multi-Sectoral Ecosystem Under One Roof
Filipino micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) account for 99% of all businesses, 62.4% of employment, and 25% of the country’s total exports, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). With international buyers increasingly tightening compliance and demanding ethical sourcing, SSX is designed to help local enterprises make sustainability the standard rather than a niche.
The three-day event unites solution providers, government bodies, financial institutions, certifying bodies, local government units, NGOs, and advocates across four core components: Conference, Exhibition, Pitching Competition, and Networking.
At the green business clinic, delegates can tap into one-on-one expert consultations with representatives from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine Trade Training Center-Global MSME Academy (PTTC-GMEA), DTI, and Energy Transition Partnerships.
Decoding the Five Pillars of Green Business
Over two days, industry leaders will decode the challenges and opportunities of sustainable operations through five interconnected pillars:
- Habitat: Focusing on renewable energy transition, net-zero decarbonization, and circular water and waste systems.
- Urban: Addressing the built environment lifecycle through green construction materials, sustainable interior design, and smart digital systems.
- Engine: Merging agritech and responsible processing to build high-efficiency, low-impact food systems for a growing population.
- Recovery: Dismantling the "take-make-waste" model via green packaging, plastic alternatives, upcycling, and sustainable material design.
- Steward: Acting as the enabling framework through green finance, transparent certifications, and policy and R&D innovation.
Featured thought leaders taking the stage include Mr. Alexander Ablaza of the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) and Climargy; Mr. Benito C. Bengzon Jr. of the Philippine Hotel Owners Association (PHOA); Mr. Zed Avecilla of the Philippine Alliance for Recycling and Materials Sustainability (PARMS); Mr. Rodolfo Calzado Jr. of DOST; Ms. Priya Thachadi of Villgro Philippines; and Mr. Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr. of PHILEXPORT.

Championing Green Innovators: "Future Proof" Finals
The spotlight shifts to disruptive green tech on the third day with the finals of “Future Proof: The Green Innovation Pitch.” Following semi-finals held during IFEX Philippines 2026, five standout startups will vie for the ultimate title, cash prizes, and an automatic placement in the official Philippine trade delegation to SDG ASIA 2027 in Taiwan:
- GNS Enterprises: Transforming waste into valuable, customized products.
- Green Beauty and Wellness: A social enterprise championing natural health and personal care.
- Magwai: Producers of sustainable, reef-safe sunscreen.
- FLQ Foods and Panciteria: Innovating cassava-based powders, polvoron, and crunchies while supporting community farmers.
- D’ Sustainable Planet: Utilizing bamboo and technology to deliver eco-friendly structural and lifestyle solutions.
SSX 2026 is proudly supported by DOST, DENR, DILG, and PTTC-GMEA, in partnership with PARMS, the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability (AIS), and QBO Innovation.
