Our company, Thega Coconut Farm, which owns and carries the registered brand Super Uling Charcoal Briquettes, was founded by Galor Engracia in 2018 to produce charcoal that is eco-friendly and more sustainable. Made from 100% scrap wood (mainly coconut shells) and with superior product qualities compared to traditional “uling” charcoal, our company started to introduce this to industrial players in 2019 and to the retail market in June 2021 and has seen steady and increasing support since. We are supported by the Department of Science and Technology, particularly DOST-FPRDI, DOST-PCAARRD and DOST-Region IV-A. Under the guidance of these agencies, the company is able to convert wastes and by-products of copra production into more useful and high-value products, upgrading at the same time the livelihood and farming processes of our community. Main production is located in a small agricultural community and coconut farm in San Juan, Batangas. Each stage of our production process ensures that we limit unnecessary wastes that would bring further harm to the environment. And yes, we even trap and capture the smoke from the chimneys of our kilns to prevent it from being released into the air. We also convert this smoke, a byproduct during the carbonization process of charcoal, into organic fertilizer. That is how we work. As the rest of the world do lip service on how to save the environment, our company strives to make an impact, no matter how small. One Super Uling charcoal at a time.
